As a young voter who is very confused about certain candidates' viewpoints on major issues, I found myself getting very frustrated at the superfluous talk of all the media delivers regarding these candidates. A friend of mine introduced me to glassbooth.org and it did help me to cut straight to the issues I feel most strongly about without having to go through a bunch of morale-boosting and opponent-slandering speech. This site also tells you how closely you match other presidential candidates and what specific issues you differ on. It might be helpful to some people like me who just want to know the facts. http://www.glassbooth.org
Also, I thought it would be helpful if, somewhere on this site, or maybe in another discussion, we could define what a "true republican" is... not some of the watered-down conservativism that we see in our government today. What does a republican stand for and what defines someone who votes in this party?
Thanks,
Thank you for the glassbooth.org recommendation. I'm going to check it out today. I have a hard time differentiating the perceptions I've built for candidates and the truth behind their actions. I'm registered independent and often times I feel like I can be persuaded against a particular candidate based solely on perception. What I do know is that I'm open to voting for a candidate as long as I trust that they are going to do what they say (and not vote opposite of what they say) and of course, that they have similar beliefs.
Great post. I think some things that define Republicans are:
-lower taxes and limited government
-ecomomic freedom
-family values
-strength of the individual to realize everything he/she can become
-capitalism-strength in business and competition
-Strong military and defense
